Why does my alternator keeps burning up?

I changed the alternator on my car and within 4 days the alernator stops working.
Why does my alternator keeps burning up?
Does your car have an external regulator or is it built into the alternator? If it's external, the regulator could be causing it. Could also be a bad battery shorting out intermittently. Lastly, you might have just gotten a defective alternator, it happens. unless this is like your third one in a couple weeks, return it and replace it again. Make sure you disconnect the battery when replacing it, a spark from the hot wire could wipe out the alternator before you even use it.

you've either got a grounding problem or short in the electrical system.

if the voltage regulator is externally mounted from the alternator (on firewall or fenderwell) then it is probably fried and causing the alternator to peg output until it dies.

or....here's a question. you have a big audio system in your car?? if so and you pound the ground of sound, you are probably greatly exceeding your poor factory alternator output rating....again frying it and your eardrums at the same time.
Your cars is old that is why! Old cars always have problem.,
