Changing alternator for idiots?

is their a step by step instruction on replacing an alternator in a jeep grand Cherokee on the net?|||Changing the alternator is a cake walk on a GC. Its placed perfectly, and most the bolts are a simple wrench approach.

Loosen the tension on the belt by taking a socket wrench and trying to turn the bolt on the tensioner pulley - you%26#039;ll then be able to remove the belt from the alternator. Remove all the wire connections from the alternator - they only go on one way, so there%26#039;s no confusion.

Then, remove the bolts - no particular order. I like leaving the top one on, to support the alternator, but some will leave the lower one on, so the alternator %26quot;hinges%26quot; and makes access easier.

Installation is the opposite of removal and is just as easy. I recommend you change the belt at this time - nothing worse than an old belt left on when it could be replaced for cheap.

Take a look at your alternator - do you see anything that might confuse you?
