Question about how to change an alternator in a 97 Chevy Malibu?

I am needing to remove and replace an alternator on a 1997 Chevy Malibu.I have a Haynes repair manual and it states to disconnect the negative battery terminal, remove the drive belt, disconnect the electrical connector from the alt.,remove mounting bolts, installation is reverse of removal.

As this is my first alternator change ,any additional tips or advice from someone who has done this??|||Use good quality, proper tools and be careful. The mounting bolts will be quite snug. Good luck.|||That%26#039;s pretty much it.

It%26#039;s easy. Even for a first timer.

Roll the tensioner away from the belt to ease it off the alternator pulley with a 15mm wrench or socket. It%26#039;s going to be pretty springy.|||nope ! that,s about it. just go by the haynes book. just make sure you spray the mounting bolts with pb blaster so you won,t break them off.
