Changing the alternator on my 93 Chevy Blazer S-10?

and the electric lead accidently touched the alternator case and sparks flew. Yeah...I didn%26#039;t disconnect the battery. Well now we have the new alternator hooked up and it won%26#039;t start. Doesn%26#039;t do any thing, no lights, buzzers, radio, nothing. We checked the battery and it is good. Did I fry the new alternator or is it just a fuse? Where are the fuses on this truck? I just got this truck and guess I need to find out where the fuses are.|||You have blown the fusible link. It is an in-line fuse that keeps the vehicle from burning up, in case the battery shorts out during an accident or other misfortunate reason. You will have to trace the main (+) cable to the starter, and off the same terminal on the starter is the main power line for the vehicle. Follow this big line until you locate the fusible link in it. Sometimes the link is attached to the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle just above the heater motor. Some don%26#039;t say fusible link, and you will have to look for a burned looking place on the wire, as they are made into the wire. You can go purchase a new on at a parts store, and you will know what it looks like. Also check your main fuse box under the hood to see if you have a big fuse in there that blew. You can almost be sure you have fried the new alternator, as they do not take to being shorted out very well. They won%26#039;t charge at all sometimes and if you are lucky it might be ok.

Glad I could help you. Good Luck!!!|||Check the main fuse/fuse links. (THE BIG ONES IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT)|||When you arc%26#039;ed the alternator, you most likely killed the voltage regulator, which is built in. When it is dead... nothing works. You can check your owner%26#039;s manual for the location of the fuses, but you may as well plan on another new alternator....
