My clio 172 is overheating and the steering is not working after changing alternator?

i have recently changed my alternator and now the car has started to overheat, the heating is hot and their is no white stuff around the top oil cap, and the power steering makes very loud noise when you turn the Wheel when its stationary, its hard to turn and snatches the wheel back, sounds like cogs grinding.|||As above you have not tightened the fan belt to the tension required to make everything work again. Also you might check the power steering pump to make sure you have the correct amount of fluid in itthat will save problems for you steering. If the steering is low on fluid jack up the front of the car. Start the motor %26amp; turn your steering right full lock %26amp; then left full lock a few times to bleed the system. I hope this may have helped you.|||Both the alternator %26amp; the water pump are turned by the fan belt, as is the power steering pump: looks like the fan belt wasn%26#039;t re-installed correctly after the alternator exchange.
